BASTARD GUNMAN: HOLIDAY HIT [CHRISTMAS SPECIAL]

Dread's back for the holidays. I'm thinking about making this a yearly ashcan comic special. This is my first try at drawing a comic on the computer.
Dedicated to the marvelous Marva.

Badass Motherfuckers/ Dimension X

Its throwback Thursday so chew on this.

It took two years of off and on planning and some consideration. I was introduced to Joe Rubenstein who inked Frank Millar's Wolverine and was convinced to use fountain pen over using micron pens, in terms of easy flow and less fuzziness (when I ink, I stroke and feather the pen too much, making the line work fuzzy). Most of the line work was all done in fountain pen, the marching ants dots was done with a 005 micron pen for intensity.

From January to April of 2016 in whatever free time I had, I was working on this. Listening to Bardock Obama stream on weekends and I was still working on this.

In light of my previous BAMF piece, I added a few other characters: Lara Croft, Aku Aku, and as a very last minute decision, Doom Slayer.

It has some flaws with it, some characters are too blended into the background, some movements are off, etc. I'm overall proud of this thing. It also helped me understand my patience with the process of my work.

My instinct tells me to color it but probably not today, or tomorrow. Some day.

PS Aku reincarnated some of his form into dead nazis.

Here Comes Trouble-- Badass Motherfuckers

About three-four years ago, I thought about bringing together some of my favorite characters into one picture. Basically a multiverse team-up scenario.

As a kid, I always admired cartoon and comic book characters that had the solo sense to them, where they're capable of taking care of themselves or they're affiliated with a group and can hold their own. Or they're a one person army. And then there's Crash Bandicoot.

After this pic, I thought about doing a story based on these guys, and in a later drawing, a gal or two. Story starts off with BJ Blazkwicz in the Wolfenstein universe as he's a on a mission to stop a Nazi scientist from creating an experimental machine that can open dimensional portals. Something went wrong in the confrontation and the portal started ripping through other dimensions and started absorbing choice characters from their worlds. Evidently, all these guys, with clashing and similar character traits, have to team up to stop this scientist.

Alas, it would've been a fan story, and it would've taken A LOT of digging into all these characters to see how well they relate to each other. But there was no doubt in my mind that if I committed to this story, it would be bad. Better not to pursue.

From left to right, Crash Bandicoot, Samurai Jack, Bardock (DBZ), Roronoa Zoro (One Piece), Toa Lhikan Mangai (Bionicle), BJ Blazkowicz (Wolfenstein: The New Order), Scorpion (Mortal Kombat), John Blaze Ghost Rider, Spike Spiegal (Cowboy Bebop), BA Dread (OC character).

Uploading the Old Stuff... The Icon of Sin

Going to upload past work from the last couple years.

This is from my deviantART page, entitled 'The Icon of Sin'. I worked on this for over a week in between school assignments in January 2015. This thing is based solely on the video game DOOM as I was hyped up for the reboot that was announced at the time. I was fascinated by the main boss villain The Icon of Sin so I decided to draw him up. Although he was just a head that summoned demons, there were custom DOOM games made by the fans which featured the Icon of Sin being a demon head with a body. I saw some fans draw their own Icon in their pics, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

The end result turned out pretty cool. The colors gelled together and the lighting from the BFG was depicted well. I had fun painting the Icon and the background.

Hoping to get back into doing another DOOM picture at some point.
